Caring for your Cutlery

Our cutlery is made from stainless steel in both 18/8 and 18/10 grade. What does this mean – it contains 18% chromium and either 8% or 10% nickel and the remaining 72% is steel which is an alloy of iron and carbon. It is hard wearing providing you follow the simple care instructions.

Whenever possible wash the cutlery immediately in a commercial dishwasher, following the manufacturer’s instructions and use good quality detergent and the correct quantity. Do not leave the cutlery wet overnight, in particular do not subject knives to the ‘rinse and hold’ cycle.

As soon as the dishwasher cycle is completed, remove the cutlery and wipe dry. Do not leave the cutlery in the dishwasher overnight in a damp atmosphere.

Water with a high salt content is particularly corrosive to stainless steel so use salt in the water softener and run the rinse programme recommended by the supplier before washing cutlery in the dishwasher.

If any stains are produced by hard water or any other cause, they can usually be removed by rubbing them with a non-abrasive metal cleaning paste or liquid.
